Service Abstraction

Service Abstraction is one of eight design principles that is part of the service-orientation design paradigm.

The official definition for this principle states the following:

"Service contracts only contain essential information and information about services is limited to what is published in service contracts."

Common concepts and terms associated with the application of this principle include:

• technology information abstraction

• functional abstraction

• programmatic logic abstraction

• quality of service abstraction

• information hiding

• open access

• controlled access

• no access

• contract content optimization
