local name

(contributed by Andre Tost and Priscilla Walmsley)

The local name of an XML element or attribute refers to the element/attribute name without any namespace or namespace prefix.

For example, if a document contains an element <tns:PurchaseOrder>, then its local name is PurchaseOrder.

If an element/attribute does not belong to a namespace, its local name is equal to its qualified name.
